And the award goes to….

Even this year the ERD 2017 was a great recognition event for our most creative and brilliant minds.

Mar 2017

The ERD – Engineering Recognition Day – is the annual event celebrated at the same time in all the GE Aviation sites all over the world.

This year the ERD was held on March 22… let’s take a closer look to the event!

Promoted by David Joyce, GE Aviation President and CEO, and Gary Mercer, GE Aviation Engineering Leader, the event aims at recognizing the incredible talented people who make a successful global designing team.

During the event there are 11 categories of awards distributed and each one of them represents a story of successes and milestones achieved during the previous year. The ERD award is the most prestigious recognition for an engineer who takes pride of working in an amazing business such as the aviation one. Here the awarded engineers’ categories:

Engineering Innovation

Materials & manufacturing

Tools & Process Excellence

NPI Design Execution

Product Validation & Certification

Fielded Product Value

Field Service Excellence

Career Technical Achievement

Avio Aero’s ERD involved all the Avio Aero sites in Italy and Poland connected through a livestream.

For the Turin area sites, the event was hosted at Lavanderia a Vapore, in Collegno - a unique location far from the usual Avio Aero business standard meetings, the Polish colleagues were at Hotel na Błoniach in Bielsko- Biala, while Pomigliano, Bari and Brindisi teams were together at Villa de Grecis, in Bari.

This year event’s theme was “Engineering a Digital Revolution”, acknowledging the importance of digital for the future of the aviation industry and recognizing the role of the designing teams in driving this cultural as well as technical change.

48 great colleagues were awarded, and we couldn’t be more proud of them!
