Named after GE's founder Thomas Edison, this prestigious prize has been awarded since 2003 to those who distinguish themselves by technical excellence and finding solutions to the latest business challenges. Colleagues with at least 10 years of seniority who stand out as organizational role models and innovators are nominated each year. This year's award for GE Aviation went to Silvia Sabbadini, EU Materials Consulting Engineer for Avio Aero.
With her vast technical knowledge of materials for turbines and mechanical drives, until recently Silvia was responsible for guiding and fostering the development of the Materials team. Now her technical expertise and leadership are needed to direct the European Materials team and define the materials to be used for the development of the ATP engine.
"Pairing a highly scientific study on innovative materials and technologies with the development of a product and seeing it through to production was inspiring" was our colleague’s comment as she prepared to take the award.
